So yeah… the first trailer for the upcoming sci-fi epic JUPITER ASCENDING starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis is really f*cking weird. I think that’s pretty evidence from the screencap above. From the glow-y bullet time to the zero gravity gun-fu above the Chicago skyline to the obvious JOHN CARTER homages to Tatum’s elf ears, neck tat, guy-liner, and blonde goatee, JUPITER ASCENDING looks to be oozing weirdness out of every one of its weird pores.
But you know what, I have 100% faith in the Wachowski Starship. Say what you will about THE MATRIX RELOADED and THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS, but those two delivered the goods with THE MATRIX, SPEED RACER, BOUND, and CLOUD ATLAS. Those flicks are bonafide cult classics.
You know what? Screw the “cult” label. Those flicks are bonafide classics. Genre-bending masterworks made by a directorial duo that doesn’t nearly get the respect they deserve. I’m excited to see they do next, no matter how f*cking weird it may be.

Gal Gadot Cast As Wonder Woman In MAN OF STEEL 2; Jason Momoa May Join As Either Doomsday Or Martian Manhunter
Variety is reporting Gal Gadot from the FAST AND FURIOUS franchise has been cast as Wonder Woman in director Zack Synder’s upcoming MAN OF STEEL sequel. She beat out Elodie Yung (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO) and Olga Kurylenko (QUANTUM OF SOLACE) for the part.
Synder had this to say about the casting: “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
While I would’ve preferred her FURIOUS SIX co-star Gina Carano been cast, I’m actually good with Gadot. She’s unknown enough the audience won’t know what to expect from her, but known enough they’ll be comfortable. She was good in the last three FAST flicks, so I can’t imagine she’ll be bad here. Only real gripe I have is Wonder Woman shouldn’t be appearing in this flick. More on that in a bit.

Wallopin’ websnappers! “#Xmen #Apocalypse 2016!”
And with that one tweet, director Bryan Singer lines up his next gig.
Vulture, Badass Digest, Movieweb, and pretty much every fanboy site on the interwebs is reporting Singer and 20th Century Fox are already hard at work on a sequel to next summer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Subtitled APOCALPYSE, the film will feature the “First Class” group of mutants – Professor X (James McAvoy), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Havok (Lucas Till), and whoever else might be introduced in DAYS – doing battle with fan favorite baddie Apocalypse (pictured above).
I would explain Apocalypse, his connection to the X-Men, and his master plan, but it’s wayyy too convoluted to explain in just a couple of sentences. Click HERE to check out his Wiki page, if you want. Long story short, he’s a giant purple ancient mutant warlord hell-bent on destroying Earth. He’s basically the Thanos (the giant purple ancient mutant warlord who appeared in the end credits of THE AVENGERS) of the X-MEN universe. Not that his comic description matters. First Showing has uncovered the film version of Apocalypse will likely be quite different from the comic book version.
