THE HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN TRAILER BRINGS THE PAIN, PROTECTS LITTLE BABIES

Just in time for the release of MACHETE, AICN has premiered the HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN trailer. If you’re wondering what the connection is, both MACHETE and HOBO appeared as faux-trailers at the beginning of GRINDHOUSE three years back and both have now become feature films. Kinda cool, kinda crazy and a little bit meta, seeing these two come to life makes me wonder when Eli Roth is going to get off his ass and finally make THANKSGIVING a reality.

RUMOR MILL: SUMMIT KEEPS THE TWILIGHT FILM FRANCHISE GOING WITH BREE TANNER

Entertainment blog What’s Playing seems to have gotten a right nice TWILIGHT scoop for all you Twi-Hards, it seems that THE SHORT SECOND LIFE OF BREE TANNER might be coming to the big screen.

For those unaware, TANNER is a novella that takes place during and before ECLIPSE. If you caught ECLIPSE recently, you might remember that Bree Tanner was actually in the movie and was played by SILENT HILL actress Jodelle Ferland. And if that doesn’t jog your memory, Tanner was the little girl that (SPOILER ALERT!!) refuses to fight in the big werewolf VS vampire brawl and gets mind-murdered by Dakota Fanning.

LET ME IN RAMPS UP THE HYPE MACHINE

Little bit of LET ME IN goodness for you on a quiet Friday morning. First up is a clip that further reinforces the ZOMBIELAND rule that you should always check the backseat of your car. It also establishes that Richard Jenkins (last thing I remember seeing him in was STEP BROTHERS) can be a scary mofo when he wants to be.

THIS HALLOWEEN, THE DEAD WALK ON AMC

As much as love Frank Darabont as a filmmaker (THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, BURIED ALIVE, THE MIST), I’m having a real hard time mustering up any excitement for THE WALKING DEAD. Maybe it’s the fact that this is a zombie show that will be airing on AMC which pretty much means that it’ll be gory, but not THAT gory. Or maybe it’s the fact that the zombie genre has kinda been done to death lately and that the whole concept needs to take a rest.

Who knows, but there’s something about THE WALKING DEAD that just isn’t working for me. Technically, it looks amazing and if anyone can pull a zombie TV show off it’s Darabont. Emotionally, there’s just no allure here. Who knows, maybe when DEAD premieres on AMC on Halloween it’ll blow my mind and become a massive hit. Maybe, maybe not, we’ll see.

DANNY GLOVER LIKES HIS DRAGON STEAKS RARE

I’d heard there was a sci-fi take on MOBY DICK being made that featured dragons and Danny Glover in the Ahab role, but until I saw this trailer I kinda thought the whole thing might’ve been a joke. You know, some dream project of some low-budget director that never came to fruition. Turns out, AGE OF THE DRAGONS is not a joke, it’s just a low budget version of REIGN OF FIRE with Glover in the Matthew McConaughey role.

CRAVEN’S 3D SOUL FINALLY GETS A TRAILER

With SCREAM 4 right around the corner, I was beginning to wonder what had happened to Wes Craven’s MY SOUL TO TAKE (formerly known as 25/8). The flick has been done for quite some time and the last I’d heard was that it was getting a hastily done post-conversion to 3D before hitting theaters. Well, the conversion is done with less than two months before release the first trailer and the official poster have hit.

NATALIE PORTMAN AND MILA KUNIS SET YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN ON FIRE IN THE BLACK SWAN TRAILER

I’m not sure what to make of the trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s BLACK SWAN. Is it a drama about rival ballerinas (played by Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis)? Is a love story? A horror film? Yet another dry epic from Aronofsky that ends on a semi-ambiguous note? What’s the deal here?

Regardless of genre, SWAN looks pretty amazing. The visuals here are definitely unique and compelling and the acting definitely seems to be top notch. And, let’s be honest here, there’s a moment in the trailer where Portman and Kunis are getting it on. If that isn’t a ringing endorsement to go an see a movie, I don’t know what is.

ROUTH ROCKS IN DEAD OF NIGHT TRAILER, EVERYTHING ELSE IN IT NOT-SO-MUCH

The first sem-real trailer (actually, it’s a promo reel) for DEAD OF NIGHT starring Brandon Routh has popped up online and it looks…kinda okay? It’s definitely no CEMETERY MAN (both NIGHT and MAN are based on the Dylan Dog comics), but there’s a pretty decent BUFFY meets CONSTANTINE vibe here. Plus, Routh looks to be acting his heart out and he really fit’s the hero mold well.

GUIDED BY THE DISEMBODIED VOICE OF SAMUEL L JACKSON, THE AVENGERS ASSEMBLE (SORT-OF)

The teaser trailer for THE AVENGERS is just that…a tease. Consisting of nothing more than a logo and a little bit of narration courtesy of Samuel L Jackson, this teaser will get you maybe a little tiny bit psyched. But seriously, don’t expect much as this is really more of an announcement trailer than anything else.
