Is it just me or does it seem like we’ve been waiting forever to see the remake of DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK? I realize that the whole Miramax fiasco kinda left this one stranded for awhile, but it feels as if I’ve been waiting for this flick to come out since I started the site nearly two years ago. And while I’d love to think that this is actually hit theaters come August 26th, I’ve got this sinking feeling that it won’t. Seen too many release dates for this one get pushed back.
Yeah, whatever, I’m ranting. Here’s a new trailer. Definitely better than the first one which actually demanded that you watch it in a dark theater with the volume up high. This one takes the more established route of giving you a look at the actors involved, a little bit of the plot, a few solid scares and probably a moment or two that won’t end up in the actual film. Solid peek, but I just want to see the damn movie already.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: Sally Hurst (Bailee Madison), a lonely, withdrawn child, has just arrived in Rhode Island to live with her father Alex (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend Kim (Katie Holmes) at the 19th-century mansion they are restoring. While exploring the sprawling estate, the young girl discovers a hidden basement, undisturbed since the strange disappearance of the mansion’s builder a century ago. When Sally unwittingly lets loose a race of ancient, dark-dwelling creatures who conspire to drag her down into the mysterious house’s bottomless depths, she must convince Alex and Kim that it’s not a fantasy—before the evil lurking in the dark consumes them all.
