Film Bites: Fox Is Determined To Spoil Every Moment Of RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

I’ve always been a fan of the PLANET OF THE APES series. Whenever a lazy Saturday or Sunday would arise, my Dad and I used to get the VHS tapes we had of all of the original films and we’d watch them back-to-back. Damn near perfect circle of movies and those memories of me just hanging out with the old man and geeking out over the techie/nerdy bits of each film are some of the best I have from my childhood.

We dug all the APES stuff. We watched the live-action show and thought it was okay. Saw the cartoon version and thought it was weird. I've even got a soft spot for the Tim Burton reboot. The end of that flick didn’t make much sense but it did spurn a couple of nerdy plot conversations with my Dad. Thanks for that, Burton.

Nostalgia aside, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES looks awesome. I’ve said it time and time again on here and probably will a bunch more before the movie hits on August 5th. The only problem I can see with the film is that James Franco looks bored. Like maybe this was a paycheck pic for him. Franco aside, this looks to be a worthy addition to the APES canon and I really, really hope it spawns a big-screen revival for this once-powerhouse franchise.
