RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION Scores A New Trailer And Q&A With Milla Jovovich
Sony has released a new trailer for RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION 3D and a Q&A with star Milla Jovovich. The trailer is mighty impressive with flashy visuals (director Paul WS Anderson is definitely pushing 3D to the limit), over-the-top action (love that Nemesis beast-thing running amok in Moscow), and a moderately clever attempt at a genre bait-and-switch (it kicks off as a cutesy family comedy before degenerating into zombie madness) but ultimately disappoints when the story (love this series but it basically abandoned coherent storytelling about two films back) and characters (I thought Sienna Guillory’s Jill was a good guy/girl) come into play.
The Q&A, on the other hand, is two straight hours of Milla Jovovich talking games, popcorn movies, zombies, kicking ass, and the RESIDENT EVIL franchise as a whole. As you can imagine, it’s the more entertaining of the two vids. No one, especially someone like me who would happily watch Jovovich read the phone book two hours, will blame you if you skip the trailer and head straight to the good stuff.
PLOT SYNOPSIS: The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, ALICE (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.
RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION 3D hits theaters on September 14th and stars Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, Boris Kodjoe, Johann Urb, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Oded Fehr and Michelle Rodriguez.
