Film Bites: The First Trailer For SINISTER Starring Ethan Hawke Is Scary Good!

Summit Entertainment has unleashed a new trailer and poster for Scott Derrickson's upcoming supernatural thriller SINISTER. Both are very scary …which is a little shocking because I thought this was just going to be some cheapie “found footage” riff on THE AMITYVILLE HORROR. That’s basically what this has been sold as up till now. Had no idea it was actually a classy (Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio are aces in my book) but edgy (snuff films is a quick way to ratchet the sleaze factor to 11) spooker in the vein of last year’s INSIDIOUS.

PLOT SYNOPSIS: A true crime novelist (Ethan Hawke) struggling to find his next big story, moves his family into a house where the horrific murder of an entire family took place. But after finding a box of home videos in which other families are also brutally murdered, his investigation leads him to a supernatural entity that may be placing his own family in harm's way.
