Film Bites: Tyler Perry Ditches His Wig To Hunt Down Matthew Fox In ALEX CROSS
While I’m still pretty pissed the David Twohy directed, Idris Elba led reboot of James Patterson’s Alex Cross never happened, I’ll be the one to admit the trailer for the Rob Cohen directed, Tyler Perry led ALEX CROSS doesn’t look half bad. Perry not only appears to be an acceptable action hero (not perfect because Elba would’ve been PERFECT) but also an acceptable replacement for Morgan Freeman (who played Cross in KISS THE GIRLS and ALONG CAME A SPIDER). Can’t say I was expecting that.
I was, however, totally expecting Matthew Fox to rock this trailer like a hurricane. The official pics released a month ago promised a villainous performance of epic proportions and this trailer only confirmed those promises. Fox looks “Heath Ledger as Joker” good here. No joke.
If ALEX CROSS does the business I think it will (I’m guessing this will appeal to most of the key demographics required for a blockbuster) then this might just be the big break into the big leagues Fox has been looking for since his work in SPEED RACER went unnoticed.
"Alex Cross" follows the homicide detective/psychologist (Tyler Perry), from the worldwide best-selling novels by James Patterson, as he meets his match in a serial killer (Matthew Fox). The two face off in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, but when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits in this taut and exciting action thriller.
