Ron Perlman Resurrects HELLBOY For The Make-A-Wish Foundation
So yeah …Ron Perlman is f*cking awesome. Not that you didn’t already know that. Any fanboy or girl worth their salt should hear that man’s name and immediately name-check CRONOS, BLADE II, DRIVE, SONS OF ANARCHY, and both of the HELLBOY movies. Uber-fanboys and girls might throw THE ICE PIRATES, DESPERATION, THE LAST SUPPER, and the 80s television series BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. People seeking a punch to the jaw can feel free to mention POLICE ACADEMY 7: MISSION TO MOSCOW. But his awesomeness rating, which was already at an all time high thanks to his filmography and reputation as a all-around cool guy, went through the roof recently when he reprised his role as Hellboy for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
May the following story be to one all reference to when the name of Ron Perlman is invoked from this day forward:
He may be known for playing Hellboy, but Ron Perlman has just earned his wings. The 62-year-old actor made one little boy's wish come true when he showed up in his full Hellboy makeup and costume for a day of hanging out with his big screen hero.
Six-year-old Zachary had expressed to Make-A-Wish his desire "to meet and become Hellboy." The boy is undergoing treatment for leukemia, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Enter Spectral Motion, the creature effects house that brought to life the many fantastical characters in Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy 2 (2008). They in turn approached Perlman, who "loved the idea and donned the makeup once more," Spectral Motion said on its Facebook page.
Perlman then underwent the four-hour makeup application procedure it takes to become Hellboy and shocked a delighted Zachary -- who later got the opportunity to become a pint-sized Hellboy himself.
That Perlman, what a guy! Below are some pics (click HERE to check out the full set) from their day together. I dare you not to smile from ear-to-ear and shed a tear at the sight of Mini-Hellboy. I dare you.
