SDCC 2012: Edgar Wright’s THE WORLD’S END Gets A Greenlight And Teaser Poster

Deadline has scored the teaser poster for Edgar Wright’s THE WORLD’S END. I’ve snagged it and included it below. What’s follows after is a rehash of my thoughts about the official plot synopsis that hit a couple months back. Sorry for the recycling but I think the poster pretty much speaks for itself.

The official plot synopsis for Edgar Wright’s THE WORLD’S END starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost has popped up over at Deadline and …wait a second! There‘s an official synopsis? Does this mean the long-rumored final installment of the Wright/Pegg/Frost’s “The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy” (the first two being SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ) has been finally been greenlit? Does this mean…

Yeah. It means that. Why dance around the issue when all you want is the answer? Yes, Working Title has greenlit THE WORLD’S END. Yes, what you are to read is an official plot synopsis. Yes, Pegg and Frost will be headlining the pic which is set to begin shooting this September. And yes, this might just be the most awesome news you’ll read all week.

Oh and did I mention that THE WORLD’S END is set to hit theaters spring 2013? That’s right. Less than a year from now we’ll get to experience the capper to the greatest completely unconnected except by cast and crew comedy trilogy of all-time! Yay!

Here’s the synopsis: 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
