The First CLOUD ATLAS Trailer Is Dense, Complex, And Absolutely Stunning

Nothing can prepare you for the first trailer for CLOUD ATLAS. It is the most mind-bogglingly beautiful and confusing piece of promo I’ve ever seen. The images are absolutely gorgeous but I have no f*cking clue what’s going on. Even the preceding video featuring the Wachowskis (directors of THE MATRIX and SPEED RACER) and Tom Tykwer (director of RUN LOLA RUN) trying to explain what they were thinking by releasing a nearly six minute teaser trailer (!!!) doesn’t help ease the confusion.

Doesn’t matter. This flick still looks amazing. I may not know what is going on or why each member of the cast appears to be playing multiple characters but I sure as hell want to find out when CLOUD ATLAS hits theaters on October 26th.

PLOT SYNOPSIS: A reluctant voyager crossing the Pacific in 1850; a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium; a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan's California; a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors; a genetically modified "dinery server" on death-row; and Zachry, a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilization -- the narrators of Cloud Atlas hear each other's echoes down the corridor of history, and their destinies are changed in ways great and small.
