Model/Actress Kate Upton might not have pulled a turkey and landed the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue (celebrating its 50th anniversary this year) for the third year in a row, but she did get a pretty great consolation prize: The first ever zero gravity bikini shoot!
This isn’t a joke. SI actually sent Upton, along with a team of photographers and the specialists at Zero G, up in a modified Boeing-727 known as “G-Force One” (AKA “The Vomit Comet”) and let her do her thing in true weightlessness. I guess since they sent to Antarctica last year, space (or “as close to space as one can get without becoming an astronaut”) was the next logical step. I can’t wait to see where they sent her next year.
Anyways, zero g boobs. You know you want to see them. I’ve included them below. You can thank me later.
If the zero g thing ain’t your thing, no worries. SI made sure to have Upton pose for a few dozen pics in a sunny tropical environment.
Finally, here are some tasteful black and white pics, also from the 50th anniversary issue, to round things out.
As awesome as these pics and videos are, I think Sports Illustrated missed a real opportunity to recreate the opening credits of director Roger Vadim’s 1968 cheesecake cult classic BARBARELLA with Upton in place of Jane Fonda. That would’ve been epically EPIC. Oh well. Maybe next year.
