ScarJo Is A Super-Powered Genius Drug Mule In First Trailer For Luc Besson’s LUCY

Anne Parillaud in LA FEMME NIKITA, Natalie Portman in LEON: THE PROFESSIONAL, Milla Jovovich in THE FIFTH ELEMENT and THE MESSENGER: THE STORY OF JOAN OF ARC, Rie Rasmussen in ANGEL-A, Louise Bourgoin in THE EXTRAORDINARY ADVENTURES OF ADELE BLANC-SEC, Dianna Agron in THE FAMILY, Bridget Fonda in KISS OF THE DRAGON, Kate Nauta in TRANSPORTER 2, Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz in BANDIDAS, Zoe Saldana in COLUMBIANA, Maggie Grace in TAKEN 2 and LOCKOUT, and Amber Heard in 3 DAYS TO KILL. What do all these fantastic femme fatales have in common? The answer is writer/director/producer Luc Besson.

Since Besson loves girls with guns, it was only a matter of time before he crossed paths with the current queen of the sub-genre Scarlett Johansson. The result is LUCY, a sci-fi actioner that, if the trailer below is to be believed, is a mayhem-filled mix of WANTED, FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON, THE MATRIX, and …MARIA FULL OF GRACE? Sounds weird, but looks awesome. Check it out!

From LA FEMME NIKITA and THE PROFESSIONAL to THE FIFTH ELEMENT, writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in LUCY, an sci-fi action-thriller set in a futuristic world that is run by the mob, street gangs, drug addicts and corrupted cops. Lucy (Johansson), a woman living in Taipei, Taiwan, 2069 AD, works as a drug mule for the mob. When a drug she’s forced to smuggle inadvertently goes into her system, she find herself changing her into a meta-human. Now able to absorb knowledge instantaneously, able to move objects with her mind, and not feel pain or other discomforts, Lucy turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

USELESS KNOWLEDGE: Angelina Jolie was originally cast as Lucy, but dropped out. Had she remained, LUCY would’ve reunited Jolie with her WANTED co-star Morgan Freeman.
