T.G.I.F. #54: SWEET SIXTEEN (1983)

TOTALLY GRATUITOUS AND INAPPROPRIATE FRIDAY is a spoiler-laden NSFW podcast where J Bryant and AngieBee discuss movies/shows you probably shouldn’t watch with your spouse, significant other, teenage children, parents, small children, buddies, children in general, siblings, folks you barely know, or ones with heart conditions. You’ve been warned.

In this week's episode of Totally Gratuitous and Inappropriate Friday, J Bryant and AngieBee discuss the somewhat sleazy, somewhat silly, somewhat slasher SWEET SIXTEEN (aka SWEET 16) starring Bo Hopkins, Susan Strasberg, Patrick Macnee, Dana Kimmell, and Steve Antin.

When Melissa Morgan (Aleisa Shirley), a sexy big-city girl, moves to a small town, she creates quite a stir with her beauty and promiscuous attitude. She’s 15 going on 25, and all the boys at her new school are anxious to get to know her. But when the younger brother of a local hell-raiser (Don Stroud) is brutally murdered, the town sheriff (Bo Hopkins) must try to solve the killings before the killer strikes again. Along to help him is his Nancy Drew-ish daughter (Dana Kimmell).

The Official SWEET SIXTEEN Drinking Game

Take a shot when…

…someone is murdered.

…someone explicitly states that Melissa is 15 years old.

…someone goes for a stroll in the middle of the night.

Take a double shot when…

…the lovely Sharon Farrell literally phones in a portion of her cameo.

…the lyric, not instrumental, version of Melissa’s theme song cues up.

…the entire film screeches to halt thanks to jaggy crap early 80s slo-mo effects.

Take a triple shot when…

…a father kisses his daughter full on the lips. What the actual f*ck?!?

…a dream sequence totally misleads the audience as to what kind of movie they are about to watch.

…a used handkerchief is given as a birthday gift.
