T.G.I.F. #60: TAMMY AND THE T-REX (1994)

TOTALLY GRATUITOUS AND INAPPROPRIATE FRIDAY is a spoiler-laden NSFW podcast where J Bryant and AngieBee discuss movies/shows you probably shouldn’t watch with your spouse, significant other, teenage children, parents, small children, buddies, children in general, siblings, folks you barely know, or ones with heart conditions. You’ve been warned.

In this week's episode of Totally Gratuitous and Inappropriate Friday, J Bryant and AngieBee discuss the breathtakingly bizarre “Boy Meets Girl, Boy Is Murdered, Boy’s Brain Is Transplanted Into Body Of Giant Robot T-Rex Allowing Him To Continue Relationship With Girl AND Exact Bloody Revenge On Those Who Murdered Him” comedy TAMMY AND THE T-REX starring Paul Walker, Denise Richards, Sean Whalen, John Franklin, and Terry Kiser.

A bizarre entry even for an area of film that specializes in the offbeat, TAMMY AND THE T-REX is the story of an ideal teenage couple, a cheerleader (Denise Richards) and a jock (Paul Walker), who are abruptly separated when a jealous rival slays the footballer. At the hospital, a crazed doctor (Terry Kiser) transplants the young man's brain into that of a giant robotic dinosaur as part of his immortality-via-cobras experiment. Unfortunately, the newly transplanted boyfriend is most unhappy with his new form and with the way things have turned out in general, so he goes on a bloody rampage for revenge. When he finds the cheerleader, he is somehow able to convey his plight to her. She and a pal decide to help him by finding a new body in which to place his brain (his old one was beyond repair). While the low-budget Tammy and the T-Rex has been for some reason marketed as a family-oriented comedy, parents beware. There is a lot of blood, violence, crude sexual innuendo, and even a striptease scene. (From Rotten Tomatoes)

Take a shot when…

…Tammy (Denise Richards) screams/screeches.

…Billy Bad (George Pilgrim) stumbles out of a scene mumbling “You’ll pay for this” or some variation.

…Dr. Wachenstein puffs away manically on a cigarette.

…a boom mic lazily hovers into frame.

Take a double shot when…

…a fist fight ends with two grown men squeezing each other’s testicles.

…Helga (Ellen Dubin) punches Michael (Paul Walker).

…Michael, either in human or T-Rex form, eats a flower.

Take a triple shot when…

…Michael, in T-Rex form, uses a pay phone.

…Efren Ramirez, best known as ‘Pedro’ from NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, makes his screen debut as ‘Pizza Boy’.

…the local law enforcement have a spirited debate over who gets to slap a frightened woman. WTF?!?

A lot of the gory scenes in TAMMY AND THE T-REX were deleted in order to give it a PG-13 rating, but were shown exclusively on the Italian dub of the film. (IMDB)
