According to THR, Olivia Wilde has joined the cast of Jon Favreau’s COWBOYS AND ALIENS. You might remember ALIENS as being the movie that Robert Downey Jr recently dropped out of due to scheduling conflicts with the SHERLOCK HOLMES sequel. He was subsequently replaced with Daniel Craig.
Here’s a little bit of info from THR regarding the project and Wilde’s character:
Wilde will play a character named Ella who joins up with mysterious gunslinger in an unlikely uprising against an alien invasion. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing and wrote the script with “Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof. Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are also producing along with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, who created the graphic novel upon which the movie is based.
Wilde is definitely having a banner year. Mostly known for her work on HOUSE, she’s got TRON LEGACY coming out in December, THE NEXT THREE DAYS (the new Paul Haggis flick, featuring Liam Neeson and Russell Crowe) and now ALIENS. Looks her agent is actually making an effort, rather than getting her work in crap like ALPHA DOG and YEAR ONE.
Facts are, this gal is micro-seconds away from becoming the “next big thing”. Just you wait and see. Till then, enjoy the pics.
