LOST fans rejoice! Two of the most annoying actors/characters on the show (Kiele Sanchez [Nikki] and Harold Perrineau [Michael]) have teamed up to bring us a sequel to a horror flick that didn’t really warrant one! Yay for unnecessary sequels!

Okay, I‘ll try to tone down my sarcasm a little when dealing with this. While I may not have dug Sanchez or Perrineau on LOST, both are actually pretty good actors who sometimes get saddled with annoying roles. All these two need is some better material, material that doesn’t have them being completely superfluous to the overall mythos or having them scream “WALT!!!” every five minutes.

Now, whether that good material is a sequel to 30 DAYS OF NIGHT that manages to bring none of the original cast back and go direct-to-DVD remains to be seen, but I will give this one a shot. The original NIGHT was a solid horror flick that delivered some good chills and spills before, oddly enough, degenerating into an action pic in the last quarter. Maybe the sequel will rectify some of the mistakes made by the original and prove itself to be a worthy follow-up? Or not…

Either way, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT: DARK DAYS hits DVD and Blu-Ray on October 5th.

Nearly a year has passed since the population of Barrow, Alaska was decimated by a vicious clan of vampires during its annual 30 days of night. Terrorized by nightmares and haunted by her husband’s murder, sole survivor Stella (Kiele Sanchez) has been trying desperately to expose the vampire threat to the world. When she’s unexpectedly recruited by three other vampire attack victims, Stella sets out to reap vengeance upon Lillith, the vampire queen responsible for the Alaskan bloodbath. Now, these vampire hunters must venture into L.A.’s dark and dangerous underbelly to try and stop the savage evil that is preparing to strike once again in this pulse-pounding thriller based on the second book in the popular graphic novel series created by Steve Niles.
