Marvel Studios Reacquires Film Rights To BLADE, THE PUNISHER, And GHOST RIDER
Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige has revealed to EW that the studio has reacquired the film rights to BLADE, GHOST RIDER, and THE PUNISHER.
Here’s what Feige had to say:
“So Punisher, Ghost Rider, … Blade, all those characters are back. They all have potential, but I think we need to find the right time.”
“Whenever a character comes back to us, it’s usually because the other studios don’t want to make the movies anymore – and that usually means the [previous] movies may not have been particularly well-received. They all have potential, but we’re not going to say ‘We got it back – make it.’”
Considering this trio and DAREDEVIL (the rights to whom recently reverted from Fox to Marvel Studios) are some of the most violent guys in the Marvel universe, I can see why Feige is taking his time. No one wants to see these guys watered down or saddled with yet another lame adaptation. Time and respect is what these characters need.

DAREDEVIL Is Officially Back With Marvel
Kevin Fiege confirmed to Newsarama at an IRON MAN 3 press junket Monday that the rights to the DAREDEVIL franchise have reverted back to Marvel Studios.
Considering Fox is the studio that bungled both the 2003 film adaptation with Ben Affleck (they forced director Mark Steven Johnson to trim the hard R violence and dark subject matter and replace it with goopy romance and Evanescence tunes) and 2005 spin-off ELEKTRA (Jennifer Garner was good, the film was not), I see the rights reverting back to Marvel Studios as nothing but a good thing.
Considering Fox is also the studio that wasted nearly seven years attempting to trying to reboot a character they clearly had no idea how to reboot (their most recent attempt would’ve had David Slade and Jason Statham headlining as Matt Murdock / Daredevil and possibly Vin Diesel co-starring as Kingpin), I see the rights reverting back to Marvel as nothing but a good thing.

Here’s A Closer Look At Iron Man’s “Hall Of Armors” From This Year’s SDCC
Courtesy of Marvel, here’s a closer look at the hall of Iron Man armors seen at this year’s SDCC. I’m still not sold on the Mark VIII’s new color scheme (there’s a little too much gold and not nearly enough red) but when seen alongside all the previous incarnations of the suit I can’t help but geek out.

DOCTOR STRANGE Might Be In The Works Over At Marvel/Disney
Sweet Dormammu, Disney and Marvel might finally be ready to give the go-ahead to the long-in-development DOCTOR STRANGE film adaptation!
Disney fansite Stitch King recently spotted that the Mouse House has snagged the domain names doctorstrangesoundtrack.com, drstrangesoundtrack.com, drstrangesoundtrack.net for future usage. That, along with the recent announcement that two dates in 2014 (May 16th and June 27th) have been pegged as release dates for two future Disney/Marvel projects, leads most to believe that the Doctor (no, not THAT Doctor) might finally be heading to the big screen. The other release slot is rumored to be reserved for CAPTAIN AMERICA 2.

Marvel Studios Has Filmed A Pair Of Short Films Featuring S.H.I.E.L.D Agent Phil Coulson
Remember about a year ago when there was a rumor floating around that Marvel Studios was considering producing short (10-15 minutes long) films featuring second and third tier superheroes that precede their big summer flicks? Well, that rumor has floated back around and it’s not really a rumor anymore.
According to Film School Rejects, Marvel Studios has already produced two short films featuring S.H.I.E.L.D agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). The two shorts will appear on the upcoming DVD and Blu-Ray releases of THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER. No word yet on whether or not any C-list heroes like Luke Cage or Doctor Strange will appear in the shorts. No word on who directed the shorts either, though a solid guess would be director Joss Whedon who is filming THE AVENGERS as we speak and helmed the post-credits scene attached to THOR.

Film Bites: The New CAPTAIN AMERICA Trailer Makes Me Want To Shout “America, F**k Yeah!”
Sorry for the massive amount of trailers recently, but the last week was a weak one for actual movie news. I mean, seriously, SPY KIDS 4 is bringing back “Smell-O-Vision”? Michael Bay is prepping ultra-bright prints of TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON to combat the complaints that 3D movies are “too dark”? CARS 2 is the worst reviewed Pixar movie ever? Those aren’t stories, they’re sound bites. Little bits of info that don’t need much in the way of elaboration that can be summed up in a sentence or less. I don’t need to waste bandwidth on that.
What I need to waste bandwidth on is a new trailer for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER! Get ready to have your face rocked and your patriotism cup filled! America, f**k yeah! I love that Steve Rogers is a hero before he ever gets an ounce of the Super Soldier Serum in his system. Brings chills. Looks like THOR and X-MEN: FIRST CLASS have a new competitor in the race for “Best Superhero Movie Of The Summer”.

Film Bites: First Look At The BLADE Anime
Call me a sucker, but I love the BLADE series. And by series, I mean the entire series. I’m including TRINITY and the short-lived live-action Spike TV series in there too. Yeah, those two entries don’t exactly have the same shine that the first two do, but they do have their moments and are well worth watching. Got a feeling that’s going to be the same excuse I’m going to use after seeing the upcoming BLADE anime.

Rumor Mill: Is Loki Going To Team Up With Thanos To Battle THE AVENGERS?
I’m not going to drop a SPOILER ALERT at the beginning of this piece because I do not feel that one is warranted. The following is simply a rumor about who might be one of the villains in next summer’s THE AVENGERS. That’s all. The average person probably has no idea who I’m about to mention and, seriously, any true Marvel fanboy probably already knew this was coming.
Latino Review is reporting that Thanos, a power-mad cosmic tyrant who has frequently tussled with the heroes of the Marvel-verse, might team up with Loki (who, in case you missed the post-credits scene of THOR, survived) to take on the Avengers. Not many details are known at this point and the whole thing is still in the rumor stage, but it makes sense.
Why? Keen-eyed viewers during THOR might’ve have spotted the Infinity Gauntlet (pictured below) in Odin’s trophy room. And if you’re a keen-eyed viewer who happens to be a fanboy, you already know that wherever that glove is, Thanos is certainly close by or in the process of getting there. The Gauntlet is the one thing that Thanos craves most in the universe and I knew the second I spotted it in THOR that the big guy would be included in either THE AVENGERS or THOR 2. Guess my assumption has been pseudo-answered.
