ShockTillYouDrop announced today that Tony Todd will be back for FINAL DESTINATION 5 (I refuse to call it 5NAL DESTINATION). Yay! This marks his return to the series after his small voice cameo in the third. No word yet on whether or not he’ll be reprising the role of Bludorth (who he played in the first two), delivering yet another voice cameo or whether he’ll be playing an all-new character.

Despite having only earned 10mil at the box office last weekend, PIRANHA 3D is getting a sequel. Turns out that the movie that the movie was done on the cheap (24mil reportedly) and that it should turn a tidy profit in the long run. Another plus was that critics loved it (81% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes), which is pretty shocking considering most genre movies, as of late, seem to get raked over the coals.

With PIRANHA 3D hitting theaters this Friday, we here at Adamantium Bullet thought this might be a good time to revisit the PIRANHA flicks that came before. Namely, the Joe Dante 1978 original, the horrific 1981 sequel (directed by a then-unknown James Cameron) and the 1995 cable remake.

Straight up, I’ve been having a hard time figuring out what to call PREDATORS. Technically speaking, it’s supposed to be a sequel to the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger action epic PREDATOR. Matter of fact, they even directly reference to that flick during the course of this one, so the connection is there and it does make for a viable argument that this is, in fact, a sequel.
However, PREDATORS feels more like a reboot to me. The basic storyline is nearly identical to the original (group of interchangeable commandos in the jungle fighting an invisible assassin), most of the characters seem to be cut from the same cloth as the original and PREDATORS is so jam-packed with homages that it feels like a reboot. I’m not kidding, there’s so many homages to the original here that they cease to feel like little nods and seem more like cut-and-paste screenwriting.

The sequel that nobody asked for, HOSTEL: PART III, is coming and it’s being made by the folks who brought you the crappy APRIL FOOLS DAY remake, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN II: TEXAS BLOOD MONEY, THE GRUDGE III, MESSENGERS II: THE SCARECROW and THE NUTT HOUSE. If it’s any consolation, Eli Roth is on-board to produce, though he’s admitted that he has no idea what’s going on with this flick.

After the shitstorm that was THE FINAL DESTINATION, I really didn’t this franchise could sink any lower. I was wrong.
Bloody Disgusting is reporting that the opening disaster of the fifth installment of FINAL DESTINATION will involve a…suspension bridge? That’s right, after an airplane crash, an epic traffic accident, a rollercoaster run amok and a NASCAR race gone berserk in 3D, Warner and New Line have opted to bring us a killer bridge! And not just any bridge, but a 3D one! Ooooh…scary. Gotta be honest here, THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES and MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE pretty much did everything there was to do with scary bridges.

If you’ve been reading the site for a bit, you know that I love PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. Actually called it the “scariest f**king movie I’ve ever seen” and I still stand by that statement. Sure, the current “in” thing to do is bash on this flick, but I won’t. You may love your SAW flicks and cheap horror remakes, but I’ll take a dozen no-budget wonders like ACTIVITY any day.

It’s been known for awhile now that the newest PIRATES OF THE CARRIBBEAN flick was going to center around the Fountain Of Youth and that it would borrow some elements from the novel that is it’s namesake (ON STRANGER TIDES). Question was, how would all of these elements combine with returning cast members like Geoffrey Rush and Johnny Depp, new cast members such as Ian McShane and Penelope Cruz and the series as a whole?
